This Privacy Policy describes how Kaci R Calvaresi ("we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with the VetoSpam mobile application ("App") available on the Apple App Store.
The short version: VetoSpam collects no personal data whatsoever. All AI processing happens entirely on your iPhone. Your data never leaves your device.
1. Information We Do Not Collect
VetoSpam is designed from the ground up to operate without collecting, transmitting, or storing any personal information. Specifically, we do not collect:
- Your name, email address, phone number, or any contact information
- Your call history, call logs, or records of incoming or outgoing calls
- The phone numbers you add to your blocklist
- Voicemail audio, transcripts, or screening results
- Your location data
- Device identifiers, advertising identifiers (IDFA), or any unique device IDs
- Usage analytics, crash reports, or behavioral data
- Any data from your contacts
2. How VetoSpam Works
VetoSpam provides multiple layers of call and message protection. All processing occurs entirely on your iPhone:
Call Blocking
VetoSpam integrates with Apple's native Call Directory framework to block and identify phone numbers. Your personal blocklist is stored in an encrypted local database on your device and is never transmitted to any server.
Spam Database
VetoSpam periodically downloads an updated list of known spam phone numbers from our server (api.vetospam.app). This is the only network connection the App makes. The download is a one-way transfer: your device receives the spam list. No information about you, your phone number, your call history, or your blocklist is ever sent to our server. The request contains no identifying information.
Voicemail Screening
When you share a voicemail with VetoSpam, the App uses Apple's on-device Speech Recognition framework (SFSpeechRecognizer) to transcribe the audio. The transcription is performed entirely on your device with requiresOnDeviceRecognition enabled — no audio or text is sent to Apple's servers or ours. The App then analyzes the transcript using Apple's Natural Language framework to classify the voicemail as spam, likely spam, or legitimate.
Robocall Detection
VetoSpam analyzes the timing characteristics of voicemail transcriptions to detect pre-recorded messages. This analysis is performed entirely on-device using speech rate calculations and transcription timing patterns. No data is transmitted.
SMS Spam Filtering
VetoSpam uses Apple's Message Filter framework to check incoming SMS messages from unknown senders against the blocklist. This check happens on-device. Apple's framework ensures that VetoSpam never has access to messages from your contacts — only messages from unknown senders are evaluated.
AI Scam Baiter
The Scam Baiter feature uses Apple's on-device Speech Recognition (SFSpeechRecognizer) to listen to scam callers and Apple's Speech Synthesis (AVSpeechSynthesizer) to generate voice responses. The conversation engine runs entirely on your device. No audio, transcripts, or conversation data is transmitted to any server.
Voicemail Greeting Generator
Custom voicemail greetings are generated on your device using Apple's AVSpeechSynthesizer. The generated audio files are stored locally on your device.
VetoSpam does not require an account, an email address, or any form of registration to function.
3. Microphone and Speech Recognition
VetoSpam requests access to the microphone and speech recognition for the Scam Baiter call-back feature, which listens to the scammer's side of the conversation in real time. This access is only used during an active Scam Baiter session that you explicitly initiate. All audio processing occurs on-device. No audio recordings are stored or transmitted.
4. No Third-Party SDKs with Data Access
VetoSpam does not include any third-party analytics SDKs, advertising networks, or data brokers. We do not use Google Analytics, Firebase, Mixpanel, Amplitude, Facebook SDK, or any similar service.
5. App Store Purchase
VetoSpam is sold as a one-time purchase through the Apple App Store. All payment processing is handled exclusively by Apple. We do not receive, process, or store any payment information. Apple's privacy policy governs the purchase transaction.
6. Children's Privacy
VetoSpam does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. The App is not directed at children.
7. Data Security
Because we collect no data, there is no personal data on our servers that could be breached. Your blocklist, voicemail transcripts, screening results, and Scam Baiter conversation logs are stored locally on your device and protected by iOS's built-in security features, including device encryption.
8. Your Rights
Since we do not collect or store any personal data, there is no data to access, correct, export, or delete on our end. You can delete all app data at any time by deleting the App from your device. You can also clear all data from within the App's settings.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted at this URL with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
